NPPL
The National Private Pilots Licence was brought into action 31/07/02. This is a new licence for people who want to fly for fun! The minimum requirement is 32 hours, as opposed to 45 hours for a full licence, so you immediately save at least £1,500!

Another big bonus is that you don’t need a CAA approved doctor to do your medical. Any GP can carry out a “HGV” type medical, which will save even more money, and make flying an option for some people who would pass a normal medical but fail the CAA medical.
There will be some restrictions to the licence, for example the NPPL pilot will not be permitted to fly on instruments, so the weather conditions will have to be relatively good.
Once you have completed the NPPL you have the chance to upgrade to the Joint European Private Pilots Licence, if you wish, so you can make trips to Europe and fly on instruments.
You can train for the NPPL or PPL here at Compton Abbas. We are here 7 days a week and fly from 9am until 8pm during the summer and sunset during the winter weather permitting, so you can fly before or after work, or on weekends.
