Pooley's Day 9thMay 2010

Pooley’s Day was extremely popular as usual (maybe something to do with the freebies!). However the expected turnout was much

lower than planned due to the weather around the UK – which although beautiful and sunny for most of the day at Compton – was a bit gloomy elsewhere. So the 130 aircraft originally booked in was somewhat depleted…with a final turnout of just 80.

However we had a fantastic display from David Morgan in his Yak 50 aircraft, and a visit from lots of interesting aircraft which kept the crowds entertained.

The help from our members was fantastic, with lots of you rallying round to help out with the radio, marshalling, fuelling and feeding lots of hungry visiting pilots, making for a brilliant club atmosphere. Our Fast Track System went down a treat, with pilots ordering baguettes and drinks from ops, and happily eating within just a few minutes!

Remember for next year – if you want to come in by air – you will need to PPR with Pooleys directly at least a month in advance. We can only get a limited amount of aircraft on the field, and it is such a popular event that it does get fully booked well before the date. We look forward to seeing lots of you again next year for more Pooleys freebies!
