Fly outs' to Bembridge and The Scilly Isles - 2010

Bembridge was the chosen location for the first of our Compton Club Members Summer Fly Outs. A simple route and

crisp clear day made for a gentle ease in to the fly out season, with lots of excited younger students and more mature (but still excited!) aircraft owners making their way over to the Isle of Wight for the day. We departed at 11:00 to arrive in time for an easy lunch at the club house and a relax in the sun before making the scenic trip back to base. As has become tradition with the fly outs throughout the year we cooked up a Compton BBQ to welcome everyone back. Those of you that couldn’t make the flying in the day, came up to fly your aircraft in the evening followed by a sundowner on the patio, with fantastic views and some catching up on the days activities!

The second fly out of the Summer was a little further afield. Ten aircraft and lots more pilots set off bright and early from Compton to make the two hour journey across to St Mary’s. After refueling at Lands End, the aircraft (ranging from a flexwing to a Piper Cub) all made their way together across to the beautiful islands. A five minute walk down to the Old Town and a hearty meal later, the weight and balances were adjusted, and after having a peek at the beautiful views from the control tower, everyone set off back to Compton. Arriving back in mass just before 6pm, there was time for an early evening drink, then another yummy BBQ to round off another fantastic day.
