The first evidence of use of the strip was in 1960. The farmer who owned the land brought a Tiger Moth which he based and flew here. From there, other aircraft owners started to bring their aircraft in, and gradually made Compton their home. The present owners brought the field in 1988, since that date it has grown in to one of the most popular airfield retreats in the country.
